Installing QuickTimeÆ

Music Ace 2 requires QuickTimeÆ version 3.0 or higher in order to run
properly. Music Ace 2 will check your existing version of QuickTimeÆ.
If it is lower than version 3.0, then Music Ace 2 will install
QuickTimeÆ 3.0.

Configuring QuickTimeÆ

QuickTimeÆ 3.0 can be configured through "QuickTime Settings," located
at Apple Menu:Control Panel:QuickTime Settings.

- Select "Music" from the drop down menu.
- Select "QuickTime Music Synthesizer" if you wish to have MIDI
sounds generated by your computer. Select "General MIDI" if you
want MIDI sounds to be generated by an external MIDI keyboard. If
ou do not see any choices in the list or the choice that you want
is not available, then read on.
- Press the "Edit List" button.
- If you do not see any synthesizers listed, then press the "Add"
button on the lower left corner of the window. Under the
"Synthesizer" column, choose "QuickTime Synthesizer" from the
drop-down menu if you wish to have MIDI sounds generated by
the computer, or choose "General MIDI" if you want to have
MIDI sounds generated by an external MIDI keyboard. Press the
"OK" button in the lower right corner to save your settings.

Note About QuickTimeÆ 4
|
QuickTime 4 is available for download from Apple's web site. Both Music Ace and Music
Ace 2 make use of QuickTime Music, a component of QuickTime. A typical download of
QuickTime 4, however, does not include the QuickTime Music component. In order for
Music Ace or Music Ace 2 to still function properly, you need to choose the "Custom"
download option and specify that you wish to download "QuickTime Music."
